Dr.  Huckins received her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA, in 1974.  She was awarded her MD in 1978 from the University of  Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, MI.  Following graduation,  Dr. Huckins did her internship and residency at St. Joseph Mercy  Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.  She served as Chief Medical Resident from 1980-1982.

Dr. Huckins  provides comprehensive medical services to residents of extended care facilities, in subacute,  longterm and assisted living settings.  She is dedicated to partnering with patients, families, and other caregivers to provide high quality medical services, focusing on patients’ preferences.  Anticipating care needs and planning to meet those needs with patients and families is an important component of her work.

Dr. Huckins enjoys giving back to the community at large.  She provides medical services for the uninsured at Hope Medical Clinic, Wayne, MI.  After providing post-tsunami relief assistance in Sri Lanka, she has continued to work with the Grace Care Center orphanage and help in the operation of Mercy Home Elder Care Center in that country.  She has also provided medical care at Hope Clinic International in Nicaragua.

Dr. Huckins is married and has three children.   In addition to her professional interests, she enjoys gardening and playing soccer.
